Voice lessons in Ballincollig and Douglas, Cork

I studied for my B.Mus in the Cork school of Music and trained under Cara O’Sullivan, Robert Craig, Mary Hegarty and Mary McSweeney. I was awarded an honours in vocal performance from CSM in 2010 and won the highest placed singer in the Senior Recital Competition that same year. I was extremely lucky to have Cara O’Sullivan as my voice coach when I was studying for my leaving cert – as well as teaching me technique and repertoire, she also taught me how to look after my voice which is something most teenagers are never taught to do. If you have chosen music for your state exams and would like to discuss one to one voice coaching to help you achieve your results drop me an email siobhanoliver@gmail. com or give me a call on 085 7128843

Where to put music during the Catholic Wedding Ceremony

One of the questions I’m most often asked is where to put music during the Catholic Ceremony. So here you go!

Processional
Individual candle ceremony
Psalm
Alleluia
Lighting of Unity Candle
Offertory
Holy Holy
Ar n’Athair
Sign of Peace
Communion (choose 2 pieces)
Signing of Register (choose 2 pieces)
Recessional

Nella Fantasia

By far the most popular piece I’m asked to sing for the bride’s entrance is Nella Fantasia but it’s also suitable for the signing of the marriage register. I’m accompanied by Eoin O’Callaghan on piano and Aoife O’Donovan on flute. The beautiful flowers in the video are by Carrie O’Connor of  Best of Buds Florist, Tralee

Singing Lessons in Ballincollig and Douglas, Cork

I provide singing lessons in Ballincollig and Douglas, Cork. This is an individual lesson with a small bit of theory and the emphasis will be on fun whilst teaching the student how to look after the voice. I will also prepare students for ABRSM vocal exams if required as well as Junior and Leaving certificate practicals. I’ve been singing for years, starting out in school choirs, musicals etc but this led to me damaging my voice as I had no guidance about how to look after it! When I began official voice lessons at the age of 18 I had to go backwards before I could progress so my aim is to prevent other young voices with potential from going through the same thing as I did! I am a fully qualified voice coach with a Bachelor of Music degree specialising in Vocal Performance. Drop me an email to siobhanoliver@gmail.com or give me a call on 085 7128843 for further details

Carol Shaw Jewellery

I know most people that read my blog are brides to be so I just want to share an Irish supplier with you all.  Check out Carol Shaw Jewellery for your bridal jewellery and for bridesmaids, mother of the bride and guests!

I “met” Carol a few years ago on IrishBusinesswomen.com and having seen some of her pieces on her website I asked her if she could make something unique for me that I could wear when singing at weddings. You can see what she designed on the video just below this post or on my Facebook page at SiobhanOliverSoprano I told Carol the type of thing I was looking for and wanted something with a music theme – she came up with a few ideas and ordered in some silver music note beads for me and teamed them up with black Swarovski Crystals. What’s great is nobody else has the same thing and it was so reasonably priced! My mum, aunt and friends have also bought from Carol and everyone has been delighted with the service, speed and quality that Carol provides. She’s a lovely lady and its great to support one of our own. I live in Cork and Carol is in Dublin – we organised everything over e mail so check out her website at www.carolshawjewellery.com for some beautiful pieces for your big day
